The Fo'c'sle?

We first called our place The fo'c'sle after renovations provided new quarters out the front with a raised deck overlooking a swell of short, steep driveway. The imagery was enhanced by the later addition of large triangular shade sail.

When I asked for input in choosing a domain name, instead of some combination of family name and initials the house name was suggested.

On reflection this seemed appropriate:

A house is a dwelling on a by-way, usually the focus for a micro-community, typically a family. For most places and times it was known to the world -connected if you will- by its street address.

For my parents generation and beyond this connection was augmented by a phone number or two and later, perhaps, a fax. For the last decade we have had email.

Now, and increasingly in the future, a home can have a virtual presence on a cyber by-way.

This is ours.
